7 Spring Outfit Updates

For those of us on the East Coast, this seemingly never ending winter has worn out its welcome. My wish lists and shopping carts are filled with warm weather pieces that have not been bought because, lets be honest- who wants to shop for spring when there is still snow on the ground?  But fear not, spring is right around the corner! To help you through the last 🙏🏻 of the snowy days, I’ve highlighted 7 trends to update and transition your wardrobe into spring.

Polka Dots🔴

A huge trend this spring is polka dots. This spotted motif is timeless and can be seen on blouses, dresses, skirts etc. It may be time to stash away your stripes because polka dots aren’t just for Minnie Mouse anymore.

Puffed Sleeves🌬

The puffy sleeve was a huge trend in the 80s and has remerged in a big way this season. Go big or go home- dramatic shoulders and voluminous sleeves aren’t just for Disney princesses or shakespearians. This silhouette is sure to elevate any outfit.

Futuristic Sunnies🕶

Gone are the days of oversized-face covering sunglasses, making way for the barely there shades trend.  This 90’s slash Matrix-esque look has been seen on everyone from Kim Kardashian to Gigi Hadid and its sticking around. If the sci-fi look is too harsh for you try balancing it out with something super feminine and flow-y.

Fanny Packs👛

Once a fashion faux pas worn by tourists and dads, the belt bag (aka fanny pack) has remerged as a fashion necessity. What I love about these bags is the versatility in the ways you can wear them- as a cross body bag, swung over you shoulder or the classic wearing it around your waist. Whatever way you choose, these bags are a must have for seasons to come.

Fringe & Feathers

This season, with the return of the ’80s and its over-the-top aesthetic, fringe and feathers can be seen on bags, shoes, skirts and everything in between. Both trends tend to dress up an outfit and make it impractical for everyday wear so try pairing a skirt with sneakers or a cute tee to keep it casual.

Fantastic Plastic

From shoes to bags, the plastic trend has been taken up a notch this season. While there are pros to this trend- wearing a transparent trench coat so everyone can still see how chic your outfit is, elongated legs with clear strap heels- be prepared for all of the contents of your bag to be spotted while you’re walking down the street as well.  The key to this look- add plastic to your look in small doses so you don’t look like you’ve been shipping in the recycling bin.

Lavender💜

Step aside millennial pink, the new It color for 2018 is lavender. The pastel purple has been seen all over the runway and on street style stars. The color is neutral enough to be worn with a bold lip but can also still read edgy when found in material like satin or faux fur. Wear it from head to toe or add a pop of color with your denim, this is one trend you cannot miss this spring.
